Fix Meta Business Suite Create Page Loop — WordsByEkta🌿

I Had an Old Facebook Page and Zero Clue What I Was Walking Into

A 3-day Meta chaos, a complete recovery, and what I learned about the Create Page Loop

Three days of trial and error nobody warns you about.

I had an old Facebook Page. Sitting there, unused for years, zero followers. But I'd read somewhere that older pages carry more authority in Meta's ecosystem. So I decided to use it instead of creating a fresh one.

That one decision sent me down a three-day hole I was not prepared for.

I had never properly used Meta Business Suite. I might have wandered into it once, clicked something, and wandered back out without understanding what I had done. Turns out that was the problem. That old page was already claimed inside a Business Portfolio — one I had accidentally created and completely forgotten about.

So when I tried to set things up properly this time, I kept hitting the same wall: a screen that asked me to create a page, I'd fill in the details, hit submit — and the screen would refresh and ask me to create a page again. Over and over. No error message. No explanation. Just the loop.

I spent 72 hours clicking, disconnecting, reconnecting, deleting things I probably shouldn't have deleted, and reading support threads that were three years old and useless. I went from confused to completely locked out.

I eventually recovered everything — page, Instagram connection, ad account visibility — without any YouTube tutorial, without paying anyone, and without any prior knowledge of how Meta's backend actually works. I figured it out from the inside, the hard way.

Then I spent the next seven days writing down exactly what I had learned, scenario by scenario, so nobody else has to spend 72 hours guessing.

But first — here is what is actually happening when you are stuck in that loop.

Why the "Create Page" Loop Happens

In Meta's current setup, the loop is almost always caused by a Login Entry Point conflict. If you ever logged into Meta — even once, even by accident — using your Instagram credentials instead of your Facebook email, Meta's backend likely created a hidden Business Portfolio under that Instagram login.

This hidden portfolio has quietly claimed your page. You are the owner, but you're knocking on the wrong door. Meta doesn't recognize you because you're logging in from a different identity than the one that holds the asset.

The interface has no way to tell you this clearly — so it just refreshes and asks you to start over.

⚠️ Before you do anything: If you have ever run ads or boosted posts, do not start disconnecting or deleting anything yet. Ad account history can be permanently lost if assets are removed in the wrong order. Read through first.

3 Steps to Break the Loop

Step 1 Find the hidden portfolio. Go to Business Settings → Accounts → Pages. Look at the "Owned By" field. If you see a Portfolio name you don't recognize or didn't intentionally create — that is your ghost. Your assets are sitting inside it.
Step 2 Reset your login entry point. Log out of every Meta platform completely. Log back in using only your primary Facebook email — not the "Continue with Instagram" shortcut. This re-aligns your identity with where your assets actually live.
Step 3 Stop clicking and wait. Meta's security system flags repeated failed connection attempts as suspicious activity. Every time you keep trying to force the connection, you reset a hidden 72-hour security timer. Stop all actions for 48 hours and let the backend settle before attempting anything further.

These three steps will break the loop for most people. But if your situation is more tangled — if your Instagram is showing as claimed by another business, if your ad account has disappeared from desktop, or if you are stuck in a redirect loop inside Business Settings — the problem goes deeper than a login conflict.

Those are the scenarios I spent three days living through. I documented all eight of them, with exact click-paths, in a 32-page guide.

If three steps didn't fix it — your Meta mess has layers. The guide covers 8 specific scenarios with surgical step-by-step paths, written by someone who broke everything first and then fixed it.

What "Settled" Looks Like — and When to Try Again

After the 48-hour pause, most people are not sure what they are looking for before they attempt the setup again. Trying too early resets the timer. Trying in the wrong place wastes the wait entirely.

Here is what a settled state looks like in Meta's interface:

Check 1 Business Settings loads without redirecting. If the page stops looping you to the Create Page screen on first load, the security flag has cleared. If it still loops immediately — wait another 24 hours before checking again.
Check 2 Your Facebook Page appears under Pages in Business Settings. Even if ownership is still wrong, visibility returning means Meta's backend has re-associated your login with the asset. You can now begin the correct claim sequence.
Check 3 Instagram shows "Connected" rather than "Claimed by another business." If it still shows as claimed, the Instagram silo is a separate issue from the loop — one that needs its own fix sequence before you continue with the Page migration.

All three checks green means you are in a stable state and ready to proceed. Even one check failing means there is still an active conflict somewhere — and pushing forward from that point is what causes permanent asset loss.

⚠️ One last thing: Clear your browser cache completely before the first attempt after the pause. Meta's login session can cache a broken state and make a fixed backend look broken through your browser. A fresh session removes that false signal.
