How to Set Up Your Blogger About Me Page: Part 02 — WordsByEkta🌿
How to Set Up Your Blogger About Me or Profile Page
When I first set up my Blogger profile, I spent a good 20 minutes clicking in all the wrong places — so I wrote this down so you don't have to. 🌿
Setting up your "About Me" or "Profile" page on Blogger is a fantastic way to personalize your blog and let your readers know more about you and your purpose. It builds connection and trust with your audience.
Blogger offers a couple of flexible ways to do this, depending on how much detail you want to share about yourself and your blog's mission.
Option 1: Using the "About Me" Gadget (Quick & Common)
This is the fastest way to add a small "About Me" section, typically displayed in your blog's sidebar. It's great for a brief introduction.
- Go to your Blogger Dashboard.
- In the left-hand menu, click on "Layout."
- On your blog's layout page, look for an "+ Add a Gadget" button in one of your sidebar areas (or wherever you'd like it to appear).
- A pop-up window will appear. Scroll down and find the gadget called "About Me."
- Click the "+" sign next to "About Me."
- A new window will open where you can configure the gadget. You can choose to display your profile image and a short description. This information is pulled from your main Blogger Profile (see Option 3 below for how to edit that).
- Click "Save."
- Back on the Layout page, click the orange "Save arrangement" button (usually in the bottom right or top right) to apply your changes.
- Now, visit your blog, and you should see the "About Me" section in your sidebar!
Option 2: Creating a Dedicated "About" Page (More Detailed)
This option is ideal if you want a full, separate page to share a comprehensive story about yourself, your blog's mission, detailed contact information, your philosophy, and more.
This is the option I use personally — a dedicated About page gives me room to tell the full story.
- Go to your Blogger Dashboard.
- In the left-hand menu, click on "Pages."
- Click the orange "+ New Page" button.
- Give your page a clear Title, such as "About Me," "About WordsByEkta," or simply "About."
- Write your content in the page editor. This is where you can tell your full story, explain your blog's purpose, share your vision (like making "WordsByEkta" synonymous with "emotion"), and include any contact info you wish.
- Once you're done, click the "Publish" button.
- To link to this page from your blog (e.g., in a navigation menu):
- Go back to "Layout" in your dashboard.
- Look for a gadget called "Pages" (if you don't have one, click "+ Add a Gadget" and select "Pages").
- Click the "Edit" icon (pencil) next to the "Pages" gadget.
- Make sure your newly created "About" page is checked in the list of pages you want to display.
- Click "Save."
- Finally, click the orange "Save arrangement" button on the Layout page.
Option 3: Updating Your Main Blogger Profile
The information displayed in the "About Me" gadget (Option 1) and your details visible when you comment on other blogs are pulled directly from your main Blogger Profile. Keeping this updated is essential for consistent branding.
- Go to your Blogger Dashboard.
- In the left-hand menu, scroll all the way down and click on "Settings."
- Scroll down to the "User profile" section (it's usually near the bottom).
- Click on "Edit profile."
- Here, you can:
- Add or change your profile photo.
- Write a concise "Description" about yourself (this is what the "About Me" gadget uses).
- Add other personal details, interests, or links to your social media.
- Scroll to the very bottom and click "Save profile."
Which Option Should You Choose?
If you're completely new to Blogger, I recommend starting with both Option 2 and Option 3.
Your Blogger profile helps readers recognize you across Blogger, while a dedicated About page gives you space to explain who you are, what your blog is about, and why someone should keep reading.
Remember that visitors often check the About page before subscribing, contacting you, or trusting recommendations on your blog. Even a simple introduction can make your site feel more personal and credible.
Don't worry about making it perfect on day one. Most About pages evolve over time. Start with a few honest paragraphs, publish the page, and update it as your blog grows.
